Causes and Triggers of IBS

The exact cause of IBS is not fully understood, but several factors are believed to contribute to its development, including:

Gut motility issues: The muscles of the intestine may contract too strongly or too weakly, causing bloating, gas, and abdominal pain. This can lead to constipation or diarrhea depending on the type of IBS.
