Aura

Aura, PT

I have been a physical therapist for 35 years, during which time I have worked most with Clear Passage (for ~9 years), and also brain trauma, cardiac rehabilitation, orthopedics/ outpatients, and home care therapy.  I have a Bachelor of Science, a Master’s Degree in Exercise Physiology.  Prior to becoming a PT, I worked 5 years in the fitness world and was Director of Fitness at the Hofstra Health Center.

I believe that what I bring to Clear Passage is not just degrees and professional experience, but also personal experience with infertility, miscarriage, difficult childbirth, and c-section, as well as bowel issues related to surgery and adhesions.  This gives me an added level of empathy and compassion, and though each of us has a different journey, we share a bond of emotional and physical pain as well as determination to reach “the other side” of it.  I know the frustration of what it is like to hear a physician tell you to just take Metamucil or your eggs are too old and you need to do ova donation.  I believe that healing is also about tending to the person’s feelings of well-being, and I try to provide positive energy, support,t and encouragement to continue to pursue their health goals.

On a personal level, I have a 25-year-old son who never fails to amaze me, a doting professor husband, and an insanely loving cat.  I love animals and considered becoming a vet!  My favorite relaxation pastimes include painting (watercolor, acrylic, and pastel), cooking/baking, knitting/crocheting, and reading.  I am a retired athlete (at least I thought I was)—I used to ski, run, and now I walk, walk, walk in my favorite walking city, NYC.  I also have a very spiritual side and do volunteer work at my synagogue.

I thank you in advance for trusting me to be a part of your healing journey!
